Configuring your checkout
Testing PayPal transactions
Testing PayPal transactions involves signing up for a PayPal account, verifying your account and either setting up PayPal as the main method of accepting payments in the Checkout Wizard or enabling the PayPal plug-in.
PayPal as your primary checkout method
If you are using PayPal as your main checkout method you will also want to make sure that the Cart Order email you defined for Contact #4 in the Store Wizard is the same email address you registered as your email address with PayPal. If it is not you will want to add it to your PayPal account.
PayPal as a secondary checkout method
If you are using one of the other secure order providers as your main checkout method and are using PayPal as a secondary choice via the PayPal plug-in, you will want to make sure that the Customer Service email you defined for Contact #2 in the Store Wizard is the same email address you registered as your email address with PayPal. If it is not you will want to add it to your PayPal account.
If the email address you have defined as either Contact #2 or Contact #4 (as described above) doesnt match the email address you have on file with PayPal, your customers will get an error message that says The recipient has not yet registered for a PayPal account. Either correct your email address for Contact #2 or #4 (whichever is applicable) or add the email address to your PayPal account.
When an order is processed using PayPal you should get an email receipt from PayPal explaining the details of the order. If using PayPal for UNIX or PayPal for NT you should also get an email from the shopping cart telling you exactly what was ordered as well as customer contact information.
