Customizing your store
Easy Search Engine
This search function is a great way to “get rid” of your All Products page and replace it with an Easy Search Page. This template replaces the department.html template for your All Products department. If you have a large and slow to load All Products Department you might consider using this department template to allow your customers a quick way to search your inventory online. There is no need to install a cgi script and you don’t need a cgi folder on your web server to use this easy search method.
Get the Template
The first step would be to download the template. Once you have downloaded the template unzip the file with WinZip. The zip file contains a new department template for use with your All Products department.
- Place the dept-search.html template into your current template folder
- Start RealCart (if not already running)
- Open the Department Manager by clicking Edit/Departments on RealCart’s Main Menu
- Rename the All Products Department by clicking the Rename button and typing Search into the Edit Department Dialog
- Click OK
- Navigate to your All Products Department page (if not already there)
- In the Template pull-down menu next to the Address Field in the RealCart program window choose dept-search.html
- Rebuild your entire store by clicking the Rebuild All button on RealCart’s Small Toolbar

- Your All Products department is now a handy text based search!
Be sure to rebuild all pages before attempting to test the new easy search. Publish your store and enjoy...
