Server Type

If you know what your web server is running then you can choose the server type as either NT or UNIX. Linux servers should be treated as if they were UNIX as far as RealCart is concerned. One way you can tell if your server is NT or not is to try to navigate to a page on your site by going to your main web page. Click one of the links on your site that opens up another page. Let’s say for example that you navigate to a page called contact.html like this:

http://www.YourWebSite.com/contact.html

Now lets change the case of the first letter of the filename by changing “contact.html” to “Contact.html”.

http://www.YourWebSite.com/Contact.html

Basically what we are suggesting is that you change the case of the filename portion of the URL. The filename portion will be that part of the URL that exists after the last slash / in the address. For example. If the address you clicked to off of your main page was called “Products.htm” then you might want to change the filename to “PRODUCTS.HTM” to see if it will still work. Whatever the filename is, change the UPPER lower case status of one or more of the letters in the filename to determine whether or not you are on an NT server.

Press the Enter key on your keyboard and see if you get an error when you change the lower case letter(s) of the filename to a uppercase or vice versa. (e.g. change contact.html to Contact.html or Products.htm to PRODUCTS.HTM) If you get a “File Not Found” or similar error then the server type in RealCart should be set to UNIX. If the page comes up OK no matter which letters in the filename are changed from lower to upper case or vise versa then you are on an NT web server.
