Customizing your store
PayPal Plug In
RealCart Version 2.0.2.x (or higher) required
The PayPal Plug-In requires that you have RealCart version 2.0.2.x or higher installed before it will work. To find out which version you have simply open RealCart and click Help/About RealCart.... Click the Credits... button and the version number will follow the word RealCart on the first line.
Download Latest
If your copy just says RealCart with no version number or if the version number begins with 2.0.0. then you need to download the latest version of RealCart here. It already contains the PayPal Plug-In. When you install RealCart 2.0.2.x you can specify Custom Install when asked which install type. From there you can enable or disable the PayPal Plug-In. If you have already installed RealCart 2.0.2.x then you can simply enable it following the instructions below.
The RealCart PayPal Plug In allows you to accept PayPal in addition to another supported payment gateway. If you do not already have a secure payment gateway like Authorize.Net, WorldPay, VeriSign or other merchant account you should consider opening one today.
Make sure that you have the email address you defined for Contact #2, Customer Service email, added to your PayPal account. You should also make note that the PayPal Plug In works only with Version 2.0.2 and newer versions of RealCart. If you have a version of RealCart that starts with 2.0.0.xxx then you have a version of RealCart that is incompatible with this Plug In and should download the latest Version 2.0.2.x Beta or Release Software from http://download.RealCart.com or from one of our Tucows Download Mirrors.
To Enable the PayPal Plug-In
To enable the PayPal Plug-In first make sure you have version 2.0.2 or higher by checking Help/About RealCart... from the RealCart menu system and clicking the Credits... button. Click OK. Then choose between these two methods of enabling the PayPal Plug-In.
To enable automatically with a registry file
The PayPal Plug-In is designated either active or inactive by a registry entry in your computer. Because of this you can enable the PayPal Plug-In by simply opening this registry file by clicking here.
After you click the above link select Open File or Run when prompted. Alternatively you could Save the file then double-Click it to merge this setting with your Windows Registry.
The registry file simply looks like this:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RealCart.com\RealCart\UserField]
"PayPalPlugIn"="true"
To enable manually
If you prefer to manually make this change to your computers registry you can do the following:
- Start RealCart
- Click on Tools/Options
- Click on the User Fields tab.
- Locate the Value called PayPalPlugIn (You may need to scroll down, maybe to the bottom of the list.)
- Make sure the PayPalPlugIn value field contains the word true.
- If there is no PayPalPlugIn User Field in your list you can add it by clicking Add.
Type (or copy and paste) PayPalPlugIn with capitalization as shown here into the Field Name of the Add Custom Field dialog box. Enter the word true being careful not to include any spaces or carriage returns into the Field Value area. Make sure the only key presses you make in this field are the ones necessary to spell true with no spaces or other characters either before t-r-u-e or after.
- Click OK.
The value true needs to be entered as just the word true all lower case, no spaces or carriage returns (enters). If you are trying to enable the Plug In and you have true entered here and it still doesnt work you need to Ask RealCart.
Keep in mind that after you enable the plug-in you will need to rebuild all of your store pages with the Rebuild All button on RealCarts toolbar to add the PayPal links from your stores pages.
To Disable the PayPal Plug-In
To disable the PayPal Plug-In just follow these steps:
- Start RealCart
- Click on Tools/Options
- Click on the User Fields tab.
- Locate the Value called PayPalPlugIn (You may need to scroll down, maybe to the bottom of the list.)
- Click on the PayPalPlugIn entry and click the Delete button.
- Click OK.
Keep in mind that after you disable the plug-in you will need to rebuild all of your store pages with the Rebuild All button on RealCarts toolbar to remove the PayPal links from your stores pages.
Warnings
Do not choose PayPal as the Order Provider. Leave your Order Provider set for one of our supported payment gateways. Choosing PayPal as the Order Provider and enabling the PayPal Plug-in at the same time will just confuse your customer.
