AOL Instant Messenger Plug In
The RealCart AOL Instant Messenger Plug In allows you to automatically place AOL Instant Messenger icons on your on-line store. The functions include sending an Instant Message, add to your buddy list, Join my chat room and Send me email. To utilize this Plug-In you need an AOL Screen Name as well as the AOL Instant Messenger software or use AOL Instant Messenger Express (on-line version of AIM). If you do not have a screen name already you can automatically obtain one the first time you run AOL Instant Messenger. Just choose <New User> when prompted for your Screen Name.
This Plug In is considered to be “Pre-Release” or “Beta” software and, as such, is not subject to FREE technical support. Your feedback is welcome just use the built-in “Ask RealCart” button anytime you need assistance with the Beta version of RealCart.

Setting it up
If your “Customer Service” email address is an AOL email address then you are ready to rebuild and republish your store. If your “Customer Service” email address is not an AOL email address then you will need to change it to an AOL email address before you can use this Plug-in. If you do not have an AOL email address you can get one and then change the email address, or if you cannot obtain an AOL email address just uninstall the Plug-in.
To modify your contact #2, “Customer Service email” just follow these steps to change your Customer Service email address to an “@aol.com” address.
The AOL Instant Messenger Plug-in for RealCart makes it easy to place the Instant Messenger buttons on your on-line store. To install the Plug-in just download it and double-click it. Once you have downloaded, successfully installed and configured this Plug-in you will need to rebuild your store before it will appear on your product pages like this:

To modify your contact #2, “Customer Service email” just follow these steps to change your Customer Service email address to an “@aol.com” address.
If you would like to add or remove some buttons for the AOL Instant Messenger Plug-in, just re-install it and select the “Custom” installation method. When you do this you will have 3 optional buttons to choose from. Placing an X in the checkboxes next to each choice will add the corresponding button to the AIM button bar.
Here is the button bar with none of the optional buttons installed:

You will likely NOT want to install ALL of the buttons. This will make the button bar too wide for MOST SCREENS... Keep in mind that most of your visitors to your web site and on-line store will have 800 x 600 screen resolution. (We know this because of current statistics.) We recommend using no more than 3 buttons only. The standard button and 2 optional buttons.
If at any point you decide to discontinue using this Plug-in just uninstall it using the “Uninstall icon” for the Plug-in in the RealCart™ Program Group or through the Control Panel as follows:
- Click Start
- Click Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Double-Click Add/Remove Programs icon
- Double-Click The RealCart AOL IM Plug-in to begin uninstalling
The Plug-in will become uninstalled reverting your shopping cart program back to the way it was before you installed the Plug-in.
