Defining a download -vs- CD-ROM choice
If you sell software, images, documents or other downloadable goods you can set up choices that will work well with Free shipping (if downloadables are all that is purchased) as well as shipping for products purchased on removable media. We sell the shopping cart utilizing this very setup.
As you can see the removable media options cost extra. Keep in mind that you will want to charge shipping for removable media so you will want to assign a weight value to each of the downloadables. We will enter our product weights in ounces. Here is how to enter the options you see above:
- Start RealCart
- Open the product options dialog by clicking Tools / Product Options in the menu or by selecting the Options tab from within the Product Wizard and clicking the Product Options button. (NOTE: Older versions of RealCart will have a Choices tab instead of an Options tab.)
- Click New.
- Enter a name for the option so you will know what it is later as well as a ONE or TWO word label for the option
- Click OK.
- Now enter some choices in the name field and press enter on your keyboard as you enter each choice. This is how your Options Manager will look as you define your Flash option:
- Enter the price adjustment and the weight adjustment accordingly.
- When you are done just click OK.
- You will be asked if you want to save your changes.
- Click Yes.
Weight Adjustments
Weight adjustments allow you to alter the total weight of the order based on what options your customer selects. For example; If the CD-ROM weighs 8 ounces you would enter 8.00 in the Weight (+/-) field next to the name of the Media you are entering.
Price Adjustments
Price adjustments allow you to alter the product price based on what options your customer selects. For example; If you are charging an extra $20.00 for the CD ROM. you would enter 20.00 in the Price (+/-) field next to the name of the Media you are entering.
