Defining a shipping choice
Advanced Users Only
Most users will not need to define shipping choices and should not attempt to do so. Beginning and intermediate users of this program should define all shipping costs in the Shipping tab of the checkout wizard. Unless you already have an excellent working knowledge of how this program works and how the existing shipping methods within the program work you should not attempt setting up shipping options in this manner. Technical support is not currently being offered for Shipping related product options other than what is printed in the section below.
Defining shipping choices
It is possible to define specialized shipping options for single products using the Product Profiles Manager. Let’s say you wanted to offer overnight delivery on a particular product. In this case you may want to use negative weight adjustments to offset the weight of the product for shipping by adding the same weight you did for the product in the weight tab of the product wizard as a negative for the delivery option. Here’s what we are talking about.
- Start RealCart
- Open the product options dialog by clicking Tools / Product Options in the menu or by selecting the Options tab from within the Product Wizard and clicking the Product Options button. (NOTE: Older versions of RealCart will have a Choices tab instead of an Options tab.)
- Click New.
- Enter a name for the option so you will know what it is later as well as a ONE or TWO word label for the option
- Click OK.
- Now enter some choices in the name field and press enter on your keyboard as you enter each choice. This is how your Options Manager will look as you define your Shipping option:
- Enter the price adjustment and the weight adjustment accordingly.
- When you are done just click OK.
- You will be asked if you want to save your changes.
- Click Yes.
Weight Adjustments
Weight adjustments should be used to alter the total weight of the order by zeroing out the weight of the product as entered in the product wizard. For example; If your camera outfit weighs 24 ounces you would enter 24.00 in the Weight (+/-) field next to the name of the Shipping method you are entering then add a minus sign to the beginning of the number after you type in 24.00.
