Publishing with the Publishing Wizard

If you experience problems with the Publishing Wizard
If you have read the manual and reviewed the FAQ pages concerning publishing you should contact technical support. We can help troubleshoot publishing problems for you and help you get on track. If you are unable to use the built-in publishing wizard don’t worry. Any FTP client can be used to publish your store to your site. You can even use FrontPage.
Since an FTP connection is required by the publishing wizard you will need an FTP account as well as a username and password to the FTP server to use the built-in publishing features. Another thing you will need to know is which folder on your FTP server contains your web documents (your web site’s pages). This is explained a little later on in this section. Setting up the publishing wizard is not difficult but it can be frustrating if you do not know which folder your web pages are in on the FTP server.
Due to the wide and varied configurations possible with web servers and ftp servers it may not be possible to use the built-in publishing. This is especially true for some FrontPage web hosting packages. If you are not sure whether or not you can use FTP to publish to your web space just ask your web hosting ISP.
Web merchants that utilize the FREE (or really cheap) web hosting plans from sites like Geocities, Excite, Lycos, HomeStead, Yahoo and others will not be able to use RealCart’s built in publishing wizard. These sites use proprietary FTP systems that do not communicate in the industry standard way that RealCart’s publishing wizard was designed for. If RealCart cannot synchronize the time with the FTP Server you will end up publishing every product every time you publish (whether you have rebuilt your pages or not.) If you are using one of the above web hosting companies you will not be able to use RealCart’s built-in publishing wizard.
Although RealCart’s built-in publishing wizard will work just fine in most situations, larger stores will want to utilize a more robust FTP client like WS_FTP or Cute FTP to actually publish your store. While RealCart itself has no problems dealing with large product lines the publishing wizard was not designed to publish stores that contain more than 1000 products or so.
